"Fällt das ins Gewicht?"
Zur Wahrnehmung von Adipositas in Wissenschaft und Gesellschaft

In Reaktion auf ein in den letzten Jahrzehnten offenbar stetig anwachsendes durchschnittliches Körpergewicht in vielen Regionen der Welt, werden die Warnungen "Adipositas Epidemie" beinahe wöchentlich ausgesprochen. Wissenschaftliche Zeitschriften, Massenmedien, aber auch gesundheitspolitische Stellungnahmen verweisen in diesem Zusammenhang auf die dramatischen Konsequenzen für die Volksgesundheit, aber auch auf die "gewichtige" volkswirtschaftliche Belastung durch dieses Phänomen. Damit ist Adipositas in vielen Arenen zu einem zentralen Thema avanciert.

Dieser Vortrag präsentiert Ergebnisse aus dem GOLD III - Teilprojekt C14: "Perceptions and imaginations of obesity as a socio-scientific problem in the Austrian context"
